Digital Natives

‘Digital Natives’ is a term coined in John Palfrey’s 2008 book, Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Natives. In his writing, Palfrey is one of the first voices in the conversation surrounding the experiences of young people growing up with technology. These children and adolescents have never known a world without the technology that is mainstream in their daily lives; this gives them a unique set of experiences and a different approach to online culture. Hearing ways that technology impacts their lives can be the first step in a productive conversation about their digital lives.
